PU Law Entrance 2026 — Complete Preparation Guide & Strategy

By Surya Law Academy  |  February 28, 2026  |  5 min read

The PU Law Entrance 2026 exam is scheduled for April 26, 2026. With over 8,000 students competing for 660 total seats (360 BA LLB + 300 LLB), preparation strategy matters more than raw study hours. This guide is based on strategies used by our AIR 1, AIR 2, AIR 4, and AIR 7 toppers.

PU Law 2026 Exam Pattern

Section-wise Strategy

General Knowledge — 60 Marks (Most Critical)

This is the game-changer. 60% of the paper is GK. Students who score 45+ in GK almost always clear the cut-off. Cover: current affairs (last 12 months), Indian Constitution, Indian history, geography, economics basics, sports, and science. Read one newspaper daily from now until exam day.

Legal Aptitude — 20 Marks

Same principle-fact application as CLAT. Read the given principle carefully, apply it to facts, ignore your personal legal knowledge. Focus on torts, contracts, and constitutional law passages. With 4 weeks of practice, 15+/20 is achievable.

Logical Reasoning — 10 Marks

Syllogisms, blood relations, direction sense, coding-decoding. These are straightforward. Target 8+/10 as these are high-accuracy questions once you practice patterns. Don't spend more than 12 minutes on this section in the actual exam.

English — 10 Marks

Reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary. Target 7+/10. If English is your weak subject, focus on comprehension passages only — they carry more marks and require less rote learning than vocabulary.

Ideal Study Plan (March–April 2026)

Week Focus Daily Hours
Week 1–2 (March) GK revision + Legal Aptitude basics 4–5 hours
Week 3–4 (March) Mock test 1–3 + error analysis 5–6 hours
Week 1–2 (April) Mock test 4–8 + static GK revision 6 hours
Week 3 (April) Final revision — no new topics 4 hours
April 24–25 Rest + light revision only 2 hours max

What Our Toppers Did Differently

Sania Sundan (AIR 1 HPU Law 2024, AIR 8 PU Law) credits her success to consistent current affairs reading for 8 months and solving 40+ mock tests. Navneet Kaur (AIR 4 PU UILS 2025) focused exclusively on GK for the last 6 weeks, scoring 52/60 in the GK section alone.
