CLAT 2027 legal reasoning is entirely passage-based — 28-32 questions based on a legal passage where you apply the given principle to facts. You do NOT need to memorise bare acts. CLAT 2027 legal reasoning passages typically cover: Constitutional Law (Fundamental Rights, Articles 14, 19, 21), Law of Torts (negligence, strict liability, vicarious liability), Contract Act / BNS (offer, acceptance, consideration), Criminal Law principles, and landmark Supreme Court judgments. The key is passage comprehension and principle-application — not bare act memorisation.

Legal reasoning is one of the most scoring sections if approached correctly. Since questions are passage-based, answers are always derivable from the passage — no external law knowledge needed. Students who struggle usually apply their own legal knowledge instead of the passage principle. With 30-40 hours of focused practice using our free videos and mock tests, most students score 70-80% in legal reasoning.

Legal reasoning carries 28-32 questions out of 120 total in CLAT 2027 — approximately 23-27% weightage. It is the second or third highest section after English and Current Affairs. Each correct answer gives +1 mark, each wrong answer -0.25 marks. A score of 22-26 out of 28-32 is considered strong performance.
