How Many Papers Should You Solve?
Minimum: the last 5–6 years. Here is the plan we assign at SLA:

The 3-Column PYQ Analysis Framework
Solving without analysis is just time spent. After every paper, write these three columns for each wrong or guessed answer:
- Column 1 — Why wrong? Concept gap, careless mistake, or time pressure. Concept gaps go straight into your revision list; careless mistakes go into your exam-day checklist.
- Column 2 — Section accuracy: Marks in Legal Aptitude vs GK vs Reasoning vs English. Your next week's study time follows the weakest section, not your favourite one.
- Column 3 — Repeating themes: Which topics appeared in 3+ years? Those are the paper's backbone — master them first.
🎯 Target: With 5 solved papers, you should be able to name — without opening a book — the 8–10 Constitution topics and 6–8 GK themes the PU paper keeps returning to. If you cannot, your analysis is not finished.
Common PYQ Mistakes Students Make
- Solving papers only in the last month — pattern learning then comes too late.
- Ignoring the -0.25 negative marking while practising, then bleeding marks in the real exam.
- Using PYQs as reading material — they must be attempted under time, then analysed.
- Re-solving only the questions they already know, skipping the ones they missed.
- Practising old-pattern papers and panicking about sections that no longer exist.

Question Types You Will Meet in Each Section
- Legal Aptitude: principle + fact situations where you apply a stated rule; definition-based questions on legal terms; "which of these is a tort/contract/offence" type MCQs.
- GK: one-liner static facts (capitals, books, amendments) plus current-affairs statements — often "which of the following is correct" formats.
- Reasoning: short logic puzzles and series — the fastest marks in the paper when timed properly.
- English: a passage with 3–5 questions plus grammar/vocabulary singles.
Notice the pattern: this is a concept and knowledge paper, not a speed-reading exam like CLAT. Your PYQ work should therefore be accuracy-led — one clean solved paper is worth more than three rushed ones.

What a PYQ-First Student Looks Like in the Exam Hall
