The PU CET UG Law (also called PU UGLAW) is the entrance test for the 5-year BA LLB and BCom LLB programmes at UILS, and it is one of the most strategic law entrances in North India: moderate competition, a 50:50 merit formula, and a campus just minutes from our academy.

The 5-year integrated law programmes (BA LLB Hons. and BCom LLB Hons.) are offered at three UILS campuses, with a total intake of 480 seats plus supernumerary seats:

The paper is 100 MCQs in 90 minutes, conducted offline (OMR sheet). The section split used in the 2026 paper — and expected to remain the template for 2027:

How the PU BA LLB Merit List Is Built
📊 Official merit formula (Section 23, PU Prospectus): Entrance Test Marks (50%) + Class 12 Marks (50%) + admissible weightage. Your board percentage matters as much as your entrance score.
This is the single most misunderstood rule in PU admission. A student with 68 entrance marks and 90% in boards (merit = 79) beats a student with 80 entrance marks and 60% in boards (merit = 70). PU CET UG Law Cutoffs (Reference)
Cutoffs are merit scores (out of 100) and move every year with competition. Reference levels from recent cycles:

Reserved category cutoffs sit noticeably lower — the 2026 SC cutoff at UILS Chandigarh was around 62.50–63.50. Aim 3–5 marks above the reference to convert your seat in the first counselling round.
Preparation Strategy for PU CET UG Law 2027
1. Build Legal Aptitude through application
Legal Aptitude is 40% of the paper. Master the Constitution (Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles), legal maxims and principle-fact questions — the same skill set that powers your CLAT preparation.
2. Make current affairs a daily habit
With 40 GK marks, monthly current affairs notes (Supreme Court judgments, schemes, awards, appointments) plus static GK revision are non-negotiable. This is where most toppers and failures are separated.
3. Use previous year papers early

4. Mock under real conditions
Practise 100 questions in 90 minutes with -0.25 marking. Accuracy beats speed here — guessing at 0.25 negative is expensive.

What Your Cutoff Target Means in Entrance + Board Terms
Because merit is 50:50, a target like ~74.7 for UILS Chandigarh can be reached through several combinations — for example, 70 entrance + 79.4 in boards, or 75 entrance + 74.4 in boards, or 78 entrance + 71.4 in boards.
